This piece by Frederic Leighton is a rare treat for the senses and seemingly filled with contradictions. It's intense yet tranquil, sensual yet guileless. I finally caved in and bought myself a good reproduction so that I can wake up to it every morning. However, her indolent posture doesn't quite inspire me to rise and shine.
