More Than Just a Hair Cut


For the last year I have been getting my hair cut at VSL salon in DuPont circle, which draws a predominantly gay clientele, and so far I have been more than content. I have a confession to make.... I get my tresses trimmed way more often than I need to these days. While VSL has some great stylists that's not what keeps me going back. It's the flamboyant shampoo guy I miss. He gives the best scalp massage on the planet.

A couple of weeks ago, as I was having my curls snipped, the catchy Pussycat Dolls number "Dont cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me..." started playing on the radio. A fine-looking fellow with a jet-black mane was sitting across from me. His stylist (who was a guy by the way) started to serenade him by singing along. Although the guy appeared flattered to be the center of attention, the stylist's efforts did not bear fruition in the end. Mr Handsome was straight and his girlfriend was waiting for him at the counter.
